Summary: | The study examinined the relationship between work related stress and employees performance among construction professionals in Julius berger plc, Abuja, Nigeria. . The main objectives is: to examinine the influence of socio-demographic and work characteristics on work related stress; and to examinine the influence of socio-demographic and work characteristics on employees' performance. The study involved the administration of a questionnaire to 83 construction professionals randomly selected from Julius Berger plc, Abuja, Nigeria.. Data collected from the study were analysed using descriptive statistics. SPSS 20 was used to analyze the data. The study reveaked that the total work related stress reduces performance among all the construction professionals in a medium effect (r = +0.356). The various components of the work related stress were also found to reduce 'performance among all the construction professionals in a small to medium effects. (Deand Factors r = +0.306; Control Factors r = +0.249; Support Factors r = +0.200; Relationship Factors r = +0.315; Role Factors r = +0.259; Change Factors r = +0.273). Therefore recommended among other things that taking responsibility for work which one has adequate capacity to handle, establishing realistic budgets and time frames for project delivery, provision of spatially adequate, visually and thermally comfortable site offices, adoption of appropriate job design practices and education of professionals in stress management, Ensuring staffs participate in the decision making process involving organizational change will reduce the incidence of stress among professionals in the construction industry in Nigeria.
