In spite of the book’s prominent place in the history of the state, Martins contested its recognition, refusing to acknowledge its wide reception and its continuity with Paranism. Analysing Martins’ trajectory and the Brazilian intellectual space of his time, we investigate the social conditions to the author’s ‘blindness’ regarding the importance of his work. |
