| Summary: | The article offers corrections to the reading of a number of Novgorod birchbark letters, as well as some general observations about the language of East Slavic birchbark letters. It is argued that taking into account some general peculiarities of East Slavic birchbarks’ graphics and orthography, in particular, the differences between syllables of the type V and syllables of the type CV, can help eliminate errors in reading and interpreting texts.
