description This paper explores ways in which totems and taboos operate to give a well-rounded system of belief, practices, and regulations in the cultural and religious set-up in Ewu land. The main focus is on the interconnectivity between totems and taboos that tightens up community cohesion, shapes individual behaviours, and re-emphasises spiritual and cultural values that the people hold onto. The paper applied Conceptual Discourse as an analytical framework of exploration into the complicated web of totemic taboos within Ewu-land cultural topography. This study has largely consulted several primary and secondary sources in the conduct of this research. For primary data, it relies on oral interviews and archival materials at the National Archives, Ibadan (NAI). The secondary source materials were sourced from books, journals, and other internet materials of many kinds. This study has to rely heavily on oral interviews since there are only a few documented historical works about the Ewu people. Interviews were conducted with personnel who have been known for familiarity with the historical and cultural practices of the Ewu. This becomes a strategic balance given a deficit in written records and is helpful for a nuanced grasp of the tapestry of totemic significance within the Ewu. This therefore presents a comprehensive exploration of the subject, supported by both primary and secondary sources in adding valuable input into the many-faced world of Ewu totems.
