Summary: | This paper focuses on the life experiences of Dhuoda (9th century) and Hildegard of Bingen (12th century), which testify to an important turning point for the role of women in the Middle Ages. The former focused on a domestic perspective, the latter projected to an ecumenical horizon, but both believed in the educational value of the word as a warning that becomes an authentic profession of faith through ars and scientia, the God-given and olny true key to access the faith itself. |
