Summary: | The research cruise was carried out within the framework of the Horizon 2020 project “Development of Optimal and Open Research Support for the Black Sea” (DOORS). The DOORS-3 program was developed as part of Work Package 4. The project started on June 1, 2021 and will end on May 31, 2025, and will last 48 months. The beneficiary countries of the project are Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Moldova, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, Spain, and Greece. The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the improvement of the Black Sea environment. The DOORS project aims to address the overall need to support the restoration of environmental quality and sustainability of the Black Sea. DOORS will raise public awareness and promote the rational use of the Black Sea environment, contribute to closer coordination between the next cycle of implementation of the MSFD (EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive) and the Bucharest Convention, and deepen public understanding of the value of ecosystem services in the Black Sea. Studying the changes in the Black Sea level is also important for developing forecasts of the development of its coastal zone as a result of global climate warming. For this purpose, data on changes in landscape and geomorphological conditions in the coastal zone, obtained on the basis of historical and paleogeographic studies conducted in the coastal areas of the Black Sea, can be used. |
