description The occurrence of fire in high-rise concrete buildings threatens the stability and serviceability of the structures. Reinforced concrete deep beams with web openings are of great importance in tall buildings that serve as a transfer girder. This study focuses on the experimental and analytical investigation of the behavior of reinforced concrete deep beams after exposure to fire. For this purpose, the location of the opening, which is the most critical factor influencing the behavior of deep beams with openings, was selected as the primary variable. Six full-scale specimens were evaluated, comprising three control specimens and three fire-exposed specimens. The fire-exposed specimens were subjected to ISO 834 standard fire conditions before being loaded to failure in the strong floor laboratory. The results indicated that exposure to fire caused the overall behavior of the beams to become more brittle. Additionally, the reduction in ultimate capacity decreased as the opening was positioned farther from the load path direction. In addition, for the first time, based on the strut-and-tie approach, a method was developed to estimate the ultimate capacity of deep beams with openings after exposure to fire with acceptable accuracy. Using an image processing method to measure the maximum crack widths, it was observed that specimens with openings exhibited greater maximum crack widths compared to solid specimens. Additionally, exposure to fire caused a noticeable reduction in the maximum crack width.
