| description | This study examined the role of faith-based organizations in promoting the empowerment of women in the Southern division, the Kabale district. The objectives of the study were to assess the roles of faith-based organizations in promoting women’s empowerment in Southern Division, Kabale District, to identify the challenges faced by faith-based organizations in their efforts to empower women in the region, and to analyze the potential strategies that can be implemented to enhance the impact of faith-based organizations on women’s empowerment in Kabale District. Descriptive research design was used and data collection tools were interviews questionnaires and interview guides. A sample of 92 respondents was considered in the study. Results of the study revealed that the most prominent role identified is the provision of education and training, with 23 respondents (25%) acknowledging this as a key function of faith-based organizations. The study concluded that FBOs in Kabale District play a critical role in promoting women’s empowerment through various avenues, including providing education and training, advocating for gender equality, offering financial support, supporting health and well-being, promoting leadership development, and providing counseling and support. The distribution of roles highlights that while FBOs engage in diverse activities, there is a clear emphasis on education, financial support, and leadership development. The study recommended that government and other stakeholders should provide comprehensive training for FBO leaders in areas such as project management, gender-sensitive programming, financial management, and advocacy. This will help leaders effectively plan, implement, and sustain empowerment initiatives. |
