Validation of a paediatric sepsis screening tool to identify children with sepsis in the emergency department: a statewide prospective cohort study in Queensland, Australia
Published 2023-01-01“…We assessed the performance of the paediatric sepsis screening tool using stepwise multiple logistic regression analyses with 10-fold cross-validation and evaluated the final model at defined risk thresholds.Setting Twelve emergency departments (EDs) in Queensland, Australia.Participants 3473 children screened for sepsis, of which 523 (15.1%) were diagnosed with sepsis.Interventions A 32-item paediatric sepsis screening tool including rapidly available information from triage, risk factors and targeted physical examination.Primary outcome measure Senior medical officer-diagnosed sepsis combined with the administration of intravenous antibiotics in the ED.Results The 32-item paediatric sepsis screening tool had good predictive performance (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) 0.80, 95% CI 0.78 to 0.82). …”

Polymorphism of renin — angiotensin system genes in progression of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C
Published 2014-08-01“…Carriage of mutant alleles of angiotensinogen gene on any of loci (G-6A or M235T) is the factor predicting more rapid progression of disease. As chronic hepatitis C is multifactorial disease, it is rational to use testing of allelic variants of angiotensinogen gene in patient-specific approach at CHC management.…”

Safety and accuracy of digitally supported primary and secondary urgent care telephone triage in England: an observational study using routine data
Published 2025-02-01“…Results Sensitivity was greater in primary triage, whilst specificity was greater in secondary triage. The positive predictive value for attending ED after being assigned a triage urgency level of within 2 h was 46.0% for secondary triage compared to 20.7% for primary triage; for inpatient admission it was 18.0% and 9.2% respectively. 1.5% (n = 1468) patients triaged to same-day or less urgent care at secondary triage were subsequently admitted for in-patient care. …”

Complete metabolic response as early predictor of long-term efficacy after adoptive T cell therapy using tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes
Published 2025-02-01“…These patients might benefit from additional consolidating treatment before clinical progression, but thus far, it is not possible to identify this subgroup of patients prone to progress. In this study the predictive value of early metabolic response after TIL therapy is explored.Materials and methods: 60 patients treated with TIL therapy in 4 different clinical trials and with available [18F]2-fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose positron emission tomography-CT (FDG-PET/CT) scans at baseline and at least one follow-up scan 6–8 weeks and/or 12–16 weeks post-TIL infusion were included. Results: Obtaining complete metabolic response (CMR) was associated with significantly superior median overall survival (mOS) compared with not obtaining CMR (p<0.0001). …”
