Salvia deserti Decne., an endemic and rare subshrub from Arabian desert: antidiabetic and antihyperlipidemic effects of leaf hydroethanolic extracts
Published 2025-02-01“…The presence of several phenolic compounds (derivatives of ferulic, coumaric, and caffeic acids, among other derivatives) could at least in part explain the obtained data and empower the use of S. deserti as a source of bioactive ingredients with antioxidant, antidiabetic and antihyperlipidemic properties.DiscussionOur research has unveiled S. deserti as a source of potential to effectively manage diabetes and its associated dyslipidemia by improving antioxidant status, recovery of the liver and kidney functions and presumably by increasing insulin secretion and sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin.…”

Association between echocardiographic parameters of cardiac structure and function and mild cognitive impairment
Published 2025-02-01“…Results A total of 1136 CVD participants (mean age, 61.2 ± 8.3 years) were included in the study, comprising 289 (25.3%) MCI and 847 cognitively normal participants. Compared to cognitively normal participants, MCI participants had a higher prevalence of left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction (54.0% vs. 40.3%; P < 0.001) and greater interventricular septal thickness (IVST) (1.04 ± 0.20 cm vs. 1.00 ± 0.17 cm; P = 0.002). …”

Real-world treatment patterns and clinical characteristics in patients with moderate-to-severe systemic lupus erythematosus: an analysis of the SLE Prospective Observational Cohort...
Published 2025-01-01“…In subgroup analyses, patients with high IFNGS and high disease activity state (HDAS) at baseline used more immunosuppressants and glucocorticoids compared with those with low IFNGS and non-HDAS at baseline. Conclusions These findings underscore that SLE therapy is still often unable to reach goals as recommended by the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology, both with regard to glucocorticoid use and disease activity, suggesting that there is an unmet need for new treatment options for patients with SLE.Trial registration number NCT03189875; 16 June 2017.…”

Mulberry leaf extract reduces damage by regulating the oxidative response, immune response and intestinal flora of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) under chronic heat stress
Published 2025-02-01“…HS significantly decreased the final body weight, specific growth rate, intestinal villus length, muscular layer thickness, ACE and Chao1 indices, and lipase, trypsin, total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), and lysozyme (LZM) activities, but significantly increased the feed conversion rate, aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity, reactive oxygen species (ROS), malondialdehyde (MDA), complement 3 (C3) contents, and the relative abundances of Proteobacteria and Plesiomonas. Compared with the HS group, dietary MLE significantly improved lipase, trypsin, GPx, ACP, and LZM activities, and ACE and Chao1 indices in intestine, but significantly decreased the numbers of vacuoles and inflammatory cells, AST activity, and the GLU, MDA, and ROS contents. …”
